TEN YAMS INVESTMENTS
Our 4 Main Sectors
AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT
South Sudan is endowed with vast, agriculturally productive, rich and arable land. In addition, is has abundant water and a favourable climate. However, due to many years of conflict and civil war, people of South Sudan have suffered food insecurity, amongst many other challenges.
More than 90% of South Sudan’s population live in rural areas and 70% of them rely on agriculture for their livelihood. They are dependent on outdated, rudimentary farming practices which result in low yields and significant inefficiencies.
Ten Yams Investment will use high quality inputs, manage plant disease and use modern, mechanized farming practices in order to produce the highest possible yields with the utmost attention to quality and sustainability.
EDUCATION
South Sudan and indeed Africa has a critical shortage of skills to drive economic growth. In sectors such as manufacturing, farming, mining, etc., there are not enough skilled professionals to make full use of the country’s vast potential. Ten Yams Investment, will, in partnership with established organisations, embark on a skills development drive, particularly amongst the youth, geared towards technical training. Areas such as electrical, mechanical, electronic, agricultural and trades skills such as plumbing, bricklaying, and basic electrician courses will be included. We believe these skills can significantly contribute towards the development trajectory pf the country and the growth of the economy by unlocking opportunities that currently remain unavailable due to a lack of skills. The development of youth skills will also encourage an inflow of investment both within and outside of the country’s borders.
HEALTH CARE DEVELOPMENT
The United Nations sustainable goal number three (3) is to “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”. Indeed, good quality healthcare is a basic human right and through Ten Yams investment aims to contribute to vastly improve healthcare outcomes in South Sudan. This will be done by investments in healthcare infrastructure, healthcare human resources and technology.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
Infrastructure development has been a key part of the economic growth strategy of many developing states. South Sudan, due to ongoing war, has been unable to properly develop domestic infrastructure for the benefit of its citizens. There is no proper road network to connect the different states and cities. Housing for citizens is also inadequate and many people in South Sudan, still live in mud houses, despite rapid transformation of human settlement structures in other parts of the world in the last century.
Ten Yams Investment aims to address this lack of progress in infrastructure development which will significantly contribute to economic growth in South Sudan. Through skills development and significant capital investments, this goal will be realised.
